Ayurveda offers some basic dietary guidelines that can benefit everyone’s health.Such as it is very important to eat at the best times of the day and with accordance with one’s body’s natural rhythm.
According to ayurveda Breakfast should be before 8 am. The most substantial meal is best eaten between 10 a.m to 1 pm noon and dinner time should be around 5 to 7 am.
As it is very difficult, one should at least try to eat smaller meals at night and bigger meals in the daytime preferably to 7 p.m., so that the food is digested before going to bed for sleep. Ayurveda discourages eating at odd time or hours of the day.
1. Eating at a perfect time
One of the significant factors of an ayurvedic eating plan, is one should allow 5-6 hours between meals for complete digestion. Persons with a powerful digestion and furious desire can have a light snack, such as juice,fruit or nuts, between meals to maintain energy.
2.Drinking less water while eating
Drinking too much water while eating can wash off digestive enzymes and lower the digestive flames called Agni in ayurveda. However, drinking on a half-cup of water while eating benefits to breakdown of food and benefits the digestive procedure.
3.Do not overeat
One should ensure that one gets the most from the food, we take in it is important not to overeat. Our brain takes about 15 to 20 minutes to recognize that the stomach is full.
So, self-discipline is must, control ourselves to stop eating before sensation sated. A stomach gulped down with food weakens the entire digestive procedure and causes indigestion and gathering of ama (toxins) in the GI region.
4.Perfect combinations of food
As foods have distinct qualities, it requires different digestive energies. The food combining is of the great importance in Ayurveda. For example, fruits digest faster than grains,
so eating simultaneously confuses the digestive procedure and creates tempestuousness and AMA. When a food that digests easily and fast such as fruit is made to stick around in the stomach while unlike, heavier foods such as grains and carbohydrates use up their “cooking” process, a mixed meaning that disrupts the Agni (digestive fire) is sent to the internal organs.
Foods that have a predominantly sour character, or agitated foods such as yogurt, should not be eaten with sweet foods such as milk or fruit. The sour character can cause the milk to separate, and disruption in the stomach may lead to a toxic buildup in the GI tract and the deeper tissues over time.
